52 World Championship 2017

Scarlino in Tuscany welcomes the fleet back in May, another tricky venue of usually light-to-moderate airs. Reigning TP52 world champions Quantum Racing will be defending their title against a host of worthy contenders. With a mild microclimate – often 7 to 8 degrees warmer than nearby Florence – sailors can expect dry, breezy and warm conditions with a predominantly west to northwesterly prevailing wind. From May 16 - 20, 2017. Actually the competition consists of several races - one each day. Ten Teams from seven nations compete in the 2017 52 Super Series:

The TP 52 Class

The 52 Super Series is a circuit of sailing competitions of the "TP 52" class of yachts. TP stands for Transpac , which means "transpacific" and refers to the former Transpacific Race from near Los Angeles to Hawaii. This race was the original competition for this boat class before it became popular in Europe and other parts of the world. 52 refers to the length of the yachts, which is defined to 52 feet.

Despite its big dimensions, the TP 52 class is well-known for being fast, very light-weight, and flexibly maneuverable. The yachts' specifications allow both inshore and offshore usage.

Club Nautico Scarlino

Founded in 2002, Club Nautico Scarlino has won a place in the hearts of many international sailors and aficionados of the sea. The club is hosted by the Marina di Scarlino, which offers a complete range of services amongst a landscape that remains relatively untouched.

The club serves up a year-round calendar of sporting events, and with a strong focus on youngsters, they offer a range of high quality courses for – mainly – offshore and dingy sailing.
